Mr HIBBINS (Prahran) — I spoke at the model United Nations (UN) conference at Wesley College attended by year 9 students. The theme for the day was 'Refugees — Rights and Risks'. Listening to delegations give their opening statements, I was impressed by the thoughtful and considered approaches by students on what their country's stance was. Well done to all students who took part and to the United Nations Association of Australia, Victoria Division. The UN is such a critical global institution, and it was great to see students embracing the challenging role of a UN delegate.
I attended the Victorian Student Representative Council annual congress, where student representatives debated a number of issues that directly affect young people, including needs-based funding and mandatory student involvement in decision-making processes.Read More
