Victorian Government needs to lead on renewables
MEDIA RELEASE
Acting Greens leader Sam Hibbins has renewed calls for the Victorian Government to introduce a state-based renewable energy target to stimulate investment in clean energy projects.
"With Tony Abbott continuing his ideological crusade against renewables, the State Labor Government needs to step up now and lead the way,” Mr Hibbins said.
“The ACT’s large scale feed-in tariff legislation makes the new wind farm at Ararat possible. A Victorian Renewable Energy Target would drive more projects like this in our state, and bring the benefits home to Victorians.
“Dan Andrews can either beg Tony Abbott to have a change of heart, or step in and show some leadership like other states have already done.
“A state-based renewable energy target will drive investment in clean energy technologies, and make Victoria a renewable energy leader,” Mr Hibbins said.
