MEDIA RELEASE

Victorian Greens member for Prahran Sam Hibbins says that a recent study shows that Coal Seam Gas (CSG) and fracking is a vote changing issue in Prahran.

The study conducted by Lonergan Research has found that 62% of Prahran voters are opposed to Coal Seam Gas and more than a third (36%) would vote for another party or candidate in the next election if the party they intend to vote for supported CSG & fracking.

“In Prahran more than 3 in 5 voters oppose the development of CSG and fracking in Victoria,” says Mr Hibbins.

“This poll shows Prahran residents care about the impact of Coal Seam Gas & fracking on Victoria’s farmlands”

“The old city versus country argument doesn’t hold. Prahran residents care about where their food comes from and will change they’re vote if that’s put at risk by CSG”

“Unconventional Gas risks our water supply, community health, environment, and agriculture – the costs are just too great.”

“The Labor Government must place a permanent ban on Coal Seam Gas in Victoria to protect our food, water and future”

Question to the Treasurer on the cost of living

My question is to the Treasurer. I ask the Treasurer what action, if any, the government is...
