Member Statement: Public Housing

Mr HIBBINS (Prahran) — I recently attended a community barbecue hosted by the South Yarra Public Tenants Association at the Horace Petty estate. There I had a chance to meet residents and discuss any concerns they had. Many residents are elderly and have a Russian background, and we spoke with the assistance of a Russian interpreter.

Sessional orders require the minister to respond in writing to adjournment matters within 30 days, so I would appreciate your writing to the minister to seek a response to that adjournment matter.

Given the complete failure of Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) to detect, prevent or stop the outrageous and illegal practice of live baiting, how can the minister have such confidence to give GRV $3 million to self-regulate ahead of the findings of the review by the racing integrity commissioner?
