“It is obvious that self-regulation within this industry has failed,” Mr Hibbins said.

“Greyhound Racing Victoria was unable to detect, prevent or stop the outrageous practice of live-baiting, yet has been rewarded with a $3 million cash injection.

“The Government’s response to this sickening practice has been completely inadequate. It is time the Minister for Racing got serious by sacking the Greyhound Racing Victoria board and establishing an independent regulatory body for animal welfare,” Mr Hibbins said.
