Constituency questions: Pop up bike lanes in Prahran
I will take this on the basis that the member for Morwell is not in the chamber and there is a spare crossbench slot going, unless that was to be taken by someone else. I just ask the minister for transport for an update on pop-up bike lanes within the Prahran electorate. My understanding is there are a number to be rolled out within the Stonnington local government area in Prahran. I had a really productive briefing with the government sometime earlier this year, but the time line indicated that that they would be installed by halfway through this year. We are well past that now, so I would like to get an update on the progress of those from the minister and also an update on the progress of the ones rolled out in the Port Phillip area. My understanding is that while there has been some public discussion on those the installation is not actually complete: what is actually supposed to be there is not in there as yet. So I ask the minister for a further update on those pop-up bike lanes.
I thank the Member for Prahran for his question.
The Department of Transport (DoT) continues to work closely with the City of Stonnington and key stakeholders to explore opportunities in the area for the Pop-up Bike Lanes Program. Planning and development work remains ongoing for proposed improvements in the City of Stonnington.
The work to install the pop-up bike routes within the City of Port Phillip is now complete. I understand that this roll out included the Member’s electorate of Prahran. DoT will continue to work in partnership with the City of Port Philip throughout the 12-month trial, actively engage community and stakeholder groups to share findings and continue to make regular improvements to the pop-up bike routes.
