Constituency Question: Windsor Station
Mr HIBBINS (Prahran): My constituency question is for the Minister for Transport Infrastructure, and can I ask for further details on the budget item ‘planning for an upgrade of the Windsor station southern platform second entrance’, including the amount of funding, the extent of planning, the time lines and when any actual capital works may take place? In response to my local survey recently, hundreds of commuters have suggested several important but achievable upgrades to the station, all whilst maintaining the station’s important heritage status. This included a second entrance at the western end of the station to improve access for commuters who walk through Windsor Siding, of which there have been and are currently being undertaken further upgrades by Stonnington council; a tenant in the empty station building, which I raised with the minister last week; and increasing the train frequency of the Sandringham line, which has long waits of 15 minutes during the day and 20 minutes on the weekend. A good local train station is critical to the livability of any local community, and Windsor station is right in the heart of our community
