Mr HIBBINS (Prahran)

My constituency question is to the Minister for Mental Health.

And I ask: what is the government doing to address the severe understaffing at mental health wards at Alfred Health?

As HACSU recently stated, understaffing has resulted in unsafe working conditions, poor outcomes for consumers, workers, and the community, and in breach of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Mental health workers have already stepped up during the pandemic to support Victorians, whilst already helping Victorians with some of the challenging and complex needs in the state.

The Victorian government needs to demonstrate its thanks to our mental health workers by settling the public mental health EBA and investing in mental health to address staff shortages.
